A Heart for Breakfast

Today, a few days before Valentine’s Day, I would like to suggest doing something easy and pleasant. We are not overambitious when it comes to cooking, so our recipe is very easy, but this is what makes it so appealing. Every child can take part in preparing such a breakfast. They will be able to follow the easy steps and prepare breakfast for their parents. It is also good to start teaching our children some basic culinary skills early. Let’s begin! The idea for Valentine’s Day breakfast is a sausage heart with fried eggs, chives and cherry tomatoes.

WE WILL NEED

  • A slice of bread
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • 1 or 2 Vienna sausages
  • 1 or 2 eggs
  • Cooking oil
  • Toothpicks
  • Heart-shaped cutter

Step 1

Cut out a heart from a slice of bread. Cut a tomato diagonally and turn its one half around to create the heart shape. Put the two halves together using toothpicks. Repeat this step until you have as many hearts as you want to decorate the dish.

Step 2

Cut a sausage lengthwise leaving one side of it intact. Bend both parts of the sausage to create the heart shape and join them with a toothpick. Put the sausage on the preheated frying pan with oil. Fry it until it’s golden brown. Carefully crack the egg into the centre of the heart-shaped sausage, salt it (you can also add some pepper) and wait until the white is set and the yolk is soft.

Step 3

Put the sausage with the egg on a plate, sprinkle with chives or whatever else you have at your disposal – herbs or cheese. If you come up with any other idea, share it with us! Now you can call your family for breakfast.
