Today we would like to suggest that the children think about the things that our planet needs to be happy. To answer this question, we are going to use appealing works of art, connected with “7 Aim of Sustainable Development – Clean Energy”. It is going to be a mobile construction, where we will hang outside and observe how wind power causes the structure to move, and how the beads shine thanks to the sun.
MATERIALS
- Stick
- Crewel or Tape
- Glue
- Thread or Floss
- Pieces of colour or ecological paper
- Beads (alternatively small bells)
- Markers
- Cutter (circular, rectangular, or present ticket shape)
Step 1
Using a crewel or a tape wrap the stick, gluing or fastening it at the ends. Using the cutter, cut out a few shapes from a piece of coloured paper.
Cut off a few fragments of thread or floss and wrap the shapes to the one side. Next, string the beads on the other side. When everything is finished, tie the end of the threads to the stick, leaving equal gaps between each thread.
Step 2
Now is the time for the most creative part of this task—let the children think about their wishes for our planet and what is important for the Earth. Let them draw, using a marker, or in the case of older children, write wishes on the pieces of paper attached to the threads. Now read the compositions! Such designs are going to be an ideal decoration of a room or garden on Earth’s Day or any other ecological celebration.
