Did you know that… in the town of Santana you can see several almost identical small triangular colourful wooden houses?
They are traditional old Madeira houses. They have sloping straw-covered roofs. This allows water to flow down freely over them. The space at the top, just below the roof, was used to store food, while life went on below. Today, the buildings attract thousands of tourists with their charm.
